Fort Carson, the Mountain Post is located in southwest Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado. Fort Carson is known as the Army's Mountain Post established in 1942. Fort Carson is home to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Bridage Combat Teams of the 4th Infantry Division, 10th Special Forces Group, 71st ordinance Group, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 759th Military Police Battalion. Camp Carson was named after Christopher "Kit" Carson who explored the West during the 1800's. In 1964 Camp Carson became "Fort Carson".
When relocating to Fort Carson, Colorado many families choose to live nearby in the Fountain Valley area which includes, Fountain, Security and Widefield. Cheyenne Meadows, Cheyenne Hills and Southeast Colorado Springs are also popular among military families.
