Manitou Springs is located four miles west of Colorado Springs at the base of Pikes Peak and derives its name from the many mineral springs in the area. Manitou is a Native American word for "spirit".  The area was once a sanctuary for local Indian tribes who attributed supernatural powers to the waters of the mineral springs. 

Today, this  historic Victorian town thrives as a tourist resort with many specialty shops, art galleries, restaurants, bed and breakfasts and motels.  The area is home to the Cog Railway, Cave of the Winds, Miramont Castle, nine restored mineral springs and is a short drive to Garden of the Gods.

The area is wooded with pine trees and is bordered by canyon walls to the north and the south of this mountain setting. The area is a mix of older homes built during the turn of the century nestled into the mountain side and newly built custom homes with magnificent views of Garden of the Gods and the city of Colorado Springs.
