| Colorado's snow covered mountains have created a winter playground for skiers, snowboarders and winter sport enthusiasts. If you don't know how to ski or snowboard and want to learn, call the resort to see what they offer. Many resorts offer private and group lessons based on age and experience. Basic instruction includes standing correctly, falling, how to get up and how to stop when going down a hill. You may rent equipment at the resort or at your local ski shop or sports store or buy your own at the local ski shop, sports store or ski swap. Dress in layers as temperatures range from freezing at the top of the mountain to warm and sunny at the bottom. Sweaters, long underwear, turtlenecks, wool socks, water resistent gloves, waterproof shell pants, winter jacket and hat are a must. Cotton clothes should be avoided as they become wet when you fall, making for a cold day. One pair of warm socks is sufficient as layers of socks will ofter cause blisters. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and your favorite sports drink or water.
When not skiing, enjoy a day of shopping, dining, a trip up the gondola or sitting by the fire drinking a cup of hot cocoa. During the busy season, many of the Condos and hotels get booked up so make your reservations early if you are planning on staying a few nights. |
