  1. Free brewed coffee or tea from Starbucks when you bring a reusable mug or tumbler.  If you don’t have a tumbler or mug, you can get one for 20% off on Earth day, April 22.  If you can’t bring in a mug and don’t want to buy a new one? That’s okay too. Just request your coffee or tea in one of our “for-here” cups and we’ll pick up the tab. In 2010, people brought their own tumblers into our stores more than 32 million times, keeping nearly 1.45 million pounds of paper out of landfills.

  2. Lowe’s is celebrating Earth Day by giving away a millions trees on Saturday April 23 in partnership with American Forests.  They will give away one million tree saplings on a first-come, first serve basis.  When planted, these one million trees will eventually produce more than 260,000,000 pounds of oxygen annually, providing air for more than 670,000 people for one year.

  7. Free Recycling program in Colorado Springs starts on Earth Day Friday April 22.  At 10 am on the steps of City Hall 107 N. Nevada Ave the City of Colorado Springs in partnership with Green Corners will implement its new public space recycling program.  The program will begin with 60 new combination trash and recycle bins in the core downtown area and 90 bins throughout seven of the City's large community parks and sports complexes (Acacia Park, Memorial Park, Palmer Park, Goose Gossage Sports Complex, Leon Young Sports Complex, Skyview Sports Complex, and the parking lot at Red Rock Canyon).

Free car battery recycling from AAA Colorado from April 22 to April 23 at Auto Towing, 50 Cascade Court 719-635-4288.   A typical car battery contains 21 pounds of lead, plastic and sulfuric acid, and improper disposal can put these toxic substances into landfills and groundwater. The good news is that almost all materials in a car battery can be recycled and reused in new batteries. “Ninety-seven percent of every car battery can be recycled indefinitely and stay out of our landfills.

  10. In Celebration of National Pretzel Day. Get a free pretzel at the Chapel Hills Mall and Citadel Mall at the Pretzelmaker on Tuesday April 26th.  Sing for your snack or say “National Pretzel Day: and get a Free Pretzel at participating stores.
